How a courier company became an explosives forwarder
From express road freight in 1989 to four licensed magazines, an own fleet and an in-house security department.

Nothing here was planned in 1989. The company followed the cargo nobody else would take, and specialised because that is where it turned out to be useful.

1989
Foundation
hansa-express logistics GmbH was founded by the current owner, Andree Niehaus. The core business was express shipping of goods of all kinds by road, and the forwarding brokerage of such transports.

1994
ADR transportation
ADR Classes 1 and 7 were added to the service portfolio. For the first time, senders of ADR Class 1 goods could ship such consignments by courier-direct transport.

1995
Partner network
Internationalisation began with the establishment of a European network of companies also active in the transportation of dangerous goods.

2002
Warehousing
The first warehouse was opened — the first of four. All four are licensed for the storage of explosive material, radioactive material and war weapons. Maximum net explosive storage capacity for ADR 1.1 is 873 tonnes.

Second warehouse
A second warehouse was leased, with 370 tonnes net explosive capacity.

Third warehouse
A third warehouse was acquired, with 420 tonnes ADR Class 1.1 capacity.

2014
Certified quality assurance
A fourth warehouse was leased in North Rhine-Westphalia. AEO status had been granted in 2006.

2022
Security and guarding
The next generation began taking over the company, implementing security services for explosives transport operations.
